EDIT 7/11/18: This post has been made public, as the more we've learned about Gallifreyan Tradition, the more disturbing the group becomes.

We have chosen to part ways and block the Panopticon System, otherwise known as [personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte , proudprydonian, Lord Patrician Cass Oakdown, officialprydonchapter, systemofrassilon, and probably a good number of other screen-names I don't know. They are perhaps most known as the founders of Gallifreyan Tradition, and are mods on alterhumanabusesupport and the-sharing-official on tumblr.

Last year, Rogan created a comm called [community profile] browncastle . [personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte joined, and they then requested and brought in [profile] writersinthevoid /[personal profile] thehiysystem .

A few months later, [personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte claimed that WINTV/HIY had created a cult based off of Gallifreyan Tradition and were abusing them. We requested follow-ups, but never got an answer, and finally, a couple days ago, Rogan chose to abandon [community profile] browncastle .

[personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte , being the sole mod remaining, then immediately banned [profile] writersinthevoid /[personal profile] thehiysystem and made posts about the cult matter. This led us to block them and remove them from our Dreamwidth account. Here is the content of the comment I left on their most recent locked post explaining why:

Your behavior has been making us increasingly uncomfortable, and we have decided to part ways.

We had
open requests for three months regarding HIY's behavior so we could make a decision in browncastle, and you never responded. Instead, you waited until we left, and then took immediate action. Furthermore, when you DID make posts about HIY, you called them Rory, or [ANATHEMA], and gave no sources, so we had no way of knowing who you were talking about or what exactly was happening.

We also find it troubling how many times your groups seem to spawn cults or cult accusations. You yourself mentioned how people kept getting "sucked into" your Animorphs RP, which was based on roleplaying a false cult, using the same rhetoric and aesthetics of a real one. It got to the point that you put
a disclaimer on the tumblr! If your playful roleplay of a false cult keeps getting people behaving as though it's a real one, something has gone badly awry.

And that's not your only group where that has happened. Gallifreyan Tradition has existed for less than three years, and yet it seems to have been plagued by cult accusations and spin-offs from the beginning. You yourself admitted that it almost went in a cult-like direction because
you believed you were here to bring on the Intuitive Revolution. Combined with Cass's relationship with Rassilon, I'm not sure you should've made this group at all, but you did, and it too has been accused of being a cult.

You seem to have taken this as a personal attack, instad of a warning of what direction Gallifreyan Tradition was going--and indeed, you yourself said that
HIY built the manipulativeness into the very foundation of the group! Whatever happened between you and Auk [the ex-friend who made the cult accusations], clearly something has gone terribly wrong in Gallifreyan Tradition, that this has happened! But instead of changing the group, you chose instead to go anonymously to doctorwhokinfessions [a place where they were already banned] in the attempt to discredit those accusations, to the point that you were [IP-]banned. On top of all this, it was Rassilon, your Patron, who did this! Going anonymously to discredit someone calling you out is underhanded enough, but for your Patron to involve himself shows a concerning lack of boundaries.

Your interest in cults seems to be going to darker and darker places, and we can not follow you. We hope you change trajectory, and stop leading groups until you find out what exactly is going wrong, and why this keeps repeating.

Please do not contact us again.

That was last night. Sometime between then and now,[personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte chose to delete their entire Dreamwidth and are now claiming on Facebook that we personally attacked them.  This is in line with other behavior we have noted with critics of Gallifreyan Tradition, and I would be unsurprised if mutual acquaintances get pulled into the crossfire.

At this time, I'm still hoping this will blow over after [personal profile] apprehensiveacolyte  get their initial emotional reaction out of their system.  If not, well, this post will go public and I'll involve the screencaptures I made of the sources as necessary.

I apologize for the inconvenience.  That said, their reaction makes me a little glad they've left Dreamwidth.

EDIT 7/11/18: Since the original creation of this post, we have dug into researching Gallifreyan Tradition, and something is badly wrong. Gallifreyan Tradition, despite its short time in existence, is already running an online school.  They have created an offline household in Ohio, called New Gallifrey, and they're adopting and initiating new members. Even though it's existed for less than three years, the group is plagued by cult accusations and seems to slough and disavow its leadership fairly regularly.  A brief timeline of the past year:

  • In September 2017, an ex-follower named Auk makes a call-out post of Gallifreyan Tradition, claiming it to be a cult. They admit outright they have nothing but their word on this matter, and I don't know if any of it is true, but this seems to lead to Panopticon resigning as the Lord President of Gallifreyan Tradition, naming HIY as their successor.
  • Panopticon then go anonymously to doctorwhokinfessions to discredit Auk--anonymously, because they are already banned from the tumblr, and indeed, they are soon IP-banned as well. Since it was public at the time of its deletion, I feel all right with posting a screencapture of the blog post Panopticon made admitting to this behavior. Needless to say, even if Auk ("angry parrot noises" on their DW) has made it all up, to anonymously go to an unrelated tumblr to harass Auk, evading a ban specifically made to protect Auk from harassment, is unacceptable behavior.
  • Meanwhile, HIY is the Presidents of Gallifreyan Tradition for only a few months. They end up abruptly resigning from their position and leave Gallifreyan Tradition entirely in December 2017 to start their own group, New Gallifrey. Panopticon does not describe the circumstances in detail, only that the "community has been rocked by scandal" and that "I accept my part in it." It may possibly have been due to a disagreement over leadership in a Facebook group the two systems ran together.
  • In February 2018, Panopticon starts privately stating to us that HIY are abusing them and that New Gallifrey was a cult. We ask for further detail, but they never give it.
  • Patrician Shilo Greenwood becomes "disgraced" and "declared Anathema" under unspoken scandal in April 2018, and they are evicted from Gallifreyan Tradition. (Meaning that we were wrong; Anathema was NOT HIY.  To be fair, all the various names and secrecy make it difficult to understand what exactly is going on, and who is doing what.) Despite Panopticon's private whisperings to me about HIY and New Gallifrey, they still present a united front with them in this call-out post of Shilo Greenwood. I have no idea if any of these allegations are true.
  • Then we have the strange browncastle behavior this July. After three months of no answer from Panopticon regarding HIY, we leave the comm, and within 48 hours, Panopticon ban HIY from the comm and make a large post as to why, filled with more thorough abuse and cult allegations. (I have a screencapture of this post, but due to it being locked when created, I will only give this source on specific request to individuals.) I leave the goodbye message, and they delete their Dreamwidth.

I want to emphasize how little I know about what is truly going on with these groups. I don't know which allegations, if any, are true. I don't know whether any cults exist at all! However, even if you dismiss all the cult allegations, that is still a vast amount of overturn for such a small, new community, and I am disturbed by their creation of offline households, schools, and other intense activity. And even if Gallifreyan Tradition is completely innocent, Panopticon's behavior involving conflict is not appropriate for someone describing themselves as a spiritual leader. To harass critics, or to play these cloak-and-dagger games, is childish and a little disturbing.

I'm not pleased to have to make this post public, but seeing how intensely Gallifreyan Tradition seems to be revered for some people, and seeing how many people are involved, I want some public statement of what is going on. Comments are now turned off.
